Dr. Jonelle Crichton is a Canadian certified specialist in orthodontics and a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. She recently joined Red Deer Orthodontics as an associate.
Dr. Crichton was raised in Barbados and attended Barbados Community College, from which she graduated with an associate’s degree in math and physics. She moved to Florida to complete her Bachelor of Science at Florida International University.
Inspired by an experience she once had as a patient, she decided to pursue doctoral studies in dental medicine at Nova Southeastern University in Florida and completed her general practice residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Hospital in Miami. She gained clinical experience working in the South Miami area and also volunteered with the Caribbean Dental Program before returning to academia to undertake and complete a master’s degree in orthodontics at the University of Manitoba. She graduated in 2014.
Beyond the worlds of dentistry and orthodontics, Jonelle loves cooking, horseback riding, snowboarding, and spending time with her family in Barbados. She is a firm believer in giving back to the community; over the years, she has sought to volunteer wherever possible, especially with kids.
Jonelle is an avid sports fan who formerly represented Barbados in field hockey and tennis at the junior level. Though she no longer plays field hockey, she continues to play tennis and would love to resume competition someday.
The real satisfaction of her profession, she maintains, is in providing her patients with smiles that empower them with confidence and improved self-esteem.
